Overview

The UAE–Oman Railway Link is a 303-kilometre rail corridor connecting Abu Dhabi to Sohar Port, jointly developed by Etihad Rail and Oman Rail. The project establishes a vital gateway for cross-border logistics, linking key industrial and port facilities to the national rail network.

The alignment incorporates a 180-kilometre section within Oman, designed for both passenger and freight operations. Passenger services will operate at 200 km/h, reducing travel time between Sohar and Abu Dhabi to 100 minutes and between Sohar and Al Ain to 47 minutes, while freight trains will operate at 120 km/h to maximize cargo throughput and efficiency.

The UAE–Oman Railway program enhances supply-chain integration, promotes regional trade, and supports the development of logistics and industrial hubs along the corridor. The project reinforces bilateral cooperation and positions the rail link as a cornerstone of GCC regional transport connectivity and economic growth.
