Overview

The Budaiya and Janabiya Highways Expansion forms part of the AMAS Access Improvement program (Package 3), funded by the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED).

The project supports the large-scale AMAS Housing Development, located on reclaimed land in northwest Bahrain, accommodating over 15,000 residential units with commercial, recreational, and educational facilities.

The development focuses on widening and upgrading the Budaiya and Janabiya Highways, including associated junctions and road links, to address current and future traffic demands through 2030. The upgraded corridors enhance capacity, safety, and connectivity between major residential and commercial zones, ensuring efficient access to the new AMAS district and surrounding communities.

Comprehensive traffic modelling (VISUM) and detailed infrastructure design underpin the project’s objective of creating a robust, future-ready road network that integrates seamlessly with Bahrain’s expanding urban landscape and supports sustainable regional growth.
