Overview
The Green Riyadh Highways initiative forms a vital component of Riyadh’s citywide greening strategy, aimed at dramatically increasing tree canopy cover and enhancing the capital’s environmental resilience. Developed under the vision of the Royal Commission for Riyadh City, the program focuses on converting major highways and arterial routes into eco-conscious, landscaped corridors that integrate sustainability with urban mobility.
Spanning approximately 43 kilometers, the Green Riyadh Highways program introduces irrigation, lighting, and landscape upgrades along key routes to improve environmental quality and visual identity. Each corridor has been designed to reflect a distinct urban character, while collectively contributing to a cohesive, sustainable city image that supports Riyadh’s transformation into a world-class, livable metropolis.
The Green Riyadh Highways development exemplifies Saudi Arabia’s commitment to Vision 2030, advancing green infrastructure, carbon reduction, and ecological connectivity across one of the region’s fastest-growing urban environments.
